FAQ

General questions about Smyrna Basketball Association.

What is the Skills Review?
The skills review provides a way for the coaches to evaluate each player prior to the draft. The intention is to make the teams as even as possible talent wise.

When and where will the games be played?
Most games are played at Smyrna Community Center. Games are played on Saturday's. There is only one game per week. We have an 8-game season plus the playoffs, championships and all-star games. Saturday games begin at 9:00am.

Can I make a partial payment?
No. For accounting purposes we require full payment at the time of registration.

If I change my mind can I get a refund?
No. We have a no refund policy. We ask each parent to be sure their child is committed to play as we incur expenses from day one.

When will I know what team my child is on?
The coaches will select players at the draft. You will be notified within three days after the draft has taken place.

What days do we practice and where?
Each team will practice one day a week for one hour. Practices are scheduled Monday through Friday between 6:00pm and 9:00pm (i.e. 6-7pm, 7-8pm, and 8-9pm). Practices cannot be pre-arranged. Check this website for practice locations and directions.

Can I request a specific coach or a specific team for my child to play on?
No. There are no pre-arranged teams. We do not make concessions for ride situations or previous year’s coaches.

What age group will my child play in?
Your child must play in the age group associated with their age as of September 1, 2012. However, your child can play up, if they have a higher skill level.

How many players are on a team?
We will fill teams up to 10 players per team. Each player is REQUIRED to play two (2) uninterrupted quarters unless that player shows up after the game has started. If a player shows up after the first quarter has expired the minimum requirement is one (1) quarter. If a player shows up after the second quarter that player will only play at the coach’s discretion. If a player has excessive absences from games and/or practice the coach MUST submit his intention to bench this player to the Board in writing prior to their next game. The parent must also be informed.
